Adopt select dogs, cats, or critters for just the price of a 2-year license
SEATTLE — The Seattle Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees on select dogs, cats and critters during its “Mission Paws-ible” promotion, running from Oct. 8 through Oct. 16. This special offer is made possible with a grant from the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation.
“Some of our dogs, cats or critters are continually overlooked by potential adopters, sometimes to the point that it feels like an impossible mission to find these guys the loving homes they deserve. In most cases it just takes that one special person who clicks with the animal. We’re hoping that with the added incentive of a price break, we can help this along. We’re able to make this offer thanks to the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation for granting us funds to help offset the adoption fees for these special pets,” says Don Jordan, director of the Seattle Animal Shelter.
During “Mission Paws-ible,” the shelter will waive all adoption fees for dogs, cats and critters who have been overlooked for one reason or another. (Please note: Seattle licensing fees will apply.) Just look for the “Mission Paws-ible” note on their kennel or their Petfinder.com posting. Some of these pets are in foster care and are not at the shelter.
“We are so delighted to partner with the shelter and hope that our donation will help many, many animals find their forever homes,” commented Elizabeth Castleberry, Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation president. The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation made a $5,000 grant to the shelter to sponsor the adoptions of the ‘Mission Paws-ible’ pets.”
A couple of “Mission Paws-ible” candidates:
• Pluto has been waiting for that belly-scratching, low-energy human for months. He was rescued from a hoarder and has limited mobility in his rear legs. He loves his walks around the block but he just can’t go for hikes, runs or swims any longer.
• Bella is happy to get some pets and scratches from her favorite people but she can be selective about who those people are. Because of her independent nature, Bella just hasn’t found her perfect home…yet.
With this special offer, you pay only the cost of a two-year Seattle license: $37 for an altered dog, and $27 for an altered cat. The rest of the adoption package includes:
• Initial vaccinations
• Feline Leukemia testing (cats only)
• Certificate for free health exam at local veterinarians
• Spay or neuter
The regular cost of the package ranges from $130 for a male cat to $200 for a female dog weighing more than 80 pounds. See fees: http://www.seattle.gov/animalshelter/adoption-fees.htm
