Adopt an adult dog or cat for just the price of a 2-year license
SEATTLE — The Seattle Animal Shelter is bulging at the seams with cute cats and dignified dogs waiting to be freed to go to their forever homes. From now through July 3, the Shelter will waive all adoption fees on adult cats and dogs. Take home your new pet for only the cost of a two-year license.
“We have so many adult dogs and cats that have been overlooked for several months. With summer here and the Fourth of July coming up, it is time for them to find their forever families and join in some of the summer fun,” says Don Jordan, Seattle Animal Shelter director.
With this special offer, you pay only the cost of a two-year license: $37 for an altered dog, and $27 for an altered cat. The rest of the adoption package includes:
• Initial vaccinations
• Deworming
• Feline Leukemia testing (cats only)
• Certificate for free health exam at local veterinarians
• Spay or neuter
• Microchip
The regular cost of the package ranges from $130 for a male cat to $200 for a female dog weighing more than 80 pounds. See fees: http://www.seattle.gov/animalshelter/adoption-fees.htm
This year the Shelter has received many more dogs and cats than usual due to previous owners moving or stray pets simply not finding their way back to their families. With the help of fabulous foster families and expert local trainers, many of these animals have been rehabilitated and are now ready for their forever homes.
One example is “Biggy,” a big, athletic lab mix (see photo by Raindog Photography). Biggy would love to find a family that would take him hiking and camping all summer long, giving him a taste of some summer freedom.
The Seattle Animal Shelter is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. for adoptions. Address: 2061 – 15th Ave. W. The phone number is (206)386-PETS(7387). View animals available for adoption at http://www.seattleanimalshelter.org
