Classes offered at the Seattle Animal Shelter the third Saturday of the month
Next one is Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.
SEATTLE — The Seattle Animal Shelter, in partnership with Companion Animal Solutions, is offering a new free training class for all new dog adopters. The class, called DAWG-O: Dog Adoptions with Great Outcomes, will be taught by certified professional dog trainers from Companion Animal Solutions.
“This class will aid new adopters in the adjustment of their new dog into a forever home. We have found that many new adopters just need a little help right after adoption. If we can give owners the tools to create a great relationship with their new family member, everyone wins,” says Shelter Director Don Jordan.
On the third Saturday of each month at 2 p.m. in the shelter’s conference room, new adopters can learn about typical dog behaviors and ask questions about how to deal with their most pressing doggy challenges. Trainers will discuss a variety of topics, such as house and leash training, solving problems and having fun! “The trainers welcome your questions and can’t wait to help you with your newly rescued dog,” Jordan said.
This session is for owners only and is free to all new adopters. All human members of the family are invited.
Seattle Animal Shelter dog adoption packages range from $42 to $237 and include:
- Initial vaccinations
- Certificate for free health exam at local veterinarians
- Spay or neuter
